About Pottery in Chicago
Chicago has supported pottery artists for decades. The Hyde Park Art Center has taught ceramics since 1939 and offers over 200 classes a year. The Art Institute of Chicago shows pottery from ancient times to today, including Maya ceramics and African pieces from the 11th century. Famous ceramic artist Ruth Duckworth worked here. The School of the Art Institute (SAIC) has one of the best experimental ceramics programs in the country.
